Most games you can' t afford it and are forced to just move on. There are also cards that that unlock other cards when certain conditions are met, think of something like a card has a merchant that let' s you buy a treasure map for a lot of gold. In some missions you' re gonna need a lot of gold while in other you want more food. You can build the deck before any mission, so you have a bit of influence over what you' re gonna get. For example it can be a shop where you can buy or sell equipment and food or you could find a broken down foodcart and have the choice to either help the man or to steal his food. Each card will trigger a certain kind of event. You move over a board with face down cards.
